Holiday Organizing Tips

Since I dislike cooking, I prepare main dishes on Sunday. Just need to add a salad and vegetable when we have dinner during the week.

I also open the mail over the trash can and recycling bin because we seem to receive more junk mail in Nov and Dec.

Well from one nurse to another, I'm a list maker and very organized too. It's essential to my well being. Running around all crazy like drives me crazy. Organization is the key for me.

Nancy, I just want to say I think you're adorable! I love watching your videos and always can relate to what you have to say. Thank you for making the effort and taking the time to do this for us. It's always worthwhile!

Great post and very timely. I too have a timeline for things. It helps to not let Christmas sneak up on you. I have allowed that to happen and it takes the joy out of Christmas. TOnight I am working on my Christmas cards and tomorrow I will be wrapping gifts. I start my Christmas list in January. I worked in retail many many moons ago, and I don't shop for anything serious after Thanksgiving. Just stocking stuffers.

Start your day with God - the best advice for all year 'round!

On the contrary, I have put-up the tree mid-December for the past 18 years so as to delay the children's focus on gifts.

We pray 'round the advent wreath (trying for daily, but it's getting more difficult).

And I moved my annual family letter to August - then I just send out cards to people who remember to send me one - with a short personal note.

Merry Christmas, my Friend, Nancy!

Hi Nancy, I like to be organized, too, so do many of the same things you do with lists and accomplishing tasks early rather than late. I try very hard to guard my time and say "no" to some things so I'm not completely frazzled by Christmas. Frazzled, yes, but not completely :) Our anniversary is in December so I know what you mean by trying to squeeze in one more celebration. Have a happy birthday on Saturday!

I am a list maker, too. I find that planning and preparing ahead are essential to having things run smoothly.

Since my birhtday is December 1, I try have my shopping done or almost done and wrapped by Thanksgiving Day. Even if I am not finished, it's so much easier having the bulk of it completed.

When I put up my Autumn decor in September, I go ahead and put up my Christmas greenry complete with lights (clear) but lay Autumn leaf garland and ribbon in the greenry. When Christmas decorating time comes I just remove the Autumn ribbons and garland and the greenry is in place and ready to be decorated for Christmas. (I will have pictures on my blog during the Boo Mama's December 15 Tour of Homes.)

There are so many wonderful plays, padgets, parades and special events going on in December and I like to be free to see them, so planning ahead helps me to be able to do just that.

Thanks for your tips. I love getting ideas from others.

Have a blessed Christmas holiday!

And Happy Birthday, too!

Thanks for the great tips. Some I already do and others I need to add to my "Organizational Toolbox".

If it weren't for Post-it Notes..I don't know if anything would EVER get done!

Hi Nancy, Can you tell me where I can turn off your blog music so I can listen to your videos please? :)
